Working with Differently-Abled

Jagruti is working towards the empowerinng differently-abled persons in the communities by equipping them with claims in the panchyat for 3% budget. Through this they have been able to get houses from panchyat, scholarships for students and petty shops for the differently-abled adults.

Trainings on empowering the differently-abled along with community meetings have helped them to come together to stake their claims.

Disabled are organised under the "Khanapur Taluka Angavikalara Sanghatane" (ಖಾನಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕ ಅಂಗವಿಕಲರ ಸಂಘಟನೆ), an orgainsation that corks for disabled people in rural areas. The organisation is currently working in 43 villages, bringing awareness and guiding them to get UDID cards, which includes the monthly pension.
